Education:
Dr. Shabnam Gupta completed her advanced surgical training in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery (MIGS) at Harvard’s Brigham and Women’s Hospital. She concurrently completed a Master of Public Health (MPH) in Clinical Effectiveness from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. In addition to specializing in the surgical treatment of complex benign gynecologic conditions (fibroids, endometriosis, abnormal uterine bleeding, adnexal masses), Dr. Gupta offers laparoscopic abdominal cerclage placement for women with cervical insufficiency and recurrent pregnancy loss. She performed the first incision-less transcervical radiofrequency ablation (Sonata procedure) for fibroids in Massachusetts in 2020, has published papers and videos on various surgical techniques, and received the AAGL Jay M. Cooper Award for best paper on Minimally Invasive Gynecology.
Dr. Gupta was born in the United Kingdom and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. Early on, she developed a special interest in surgical innovation and medical devices, earning a bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology. During her undergraduate education, she graduated with highest honors and was inducted into the Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honor Society. Dr. Gupta completed medical school and OB/GYN residency at the Emory University School of Medicine, where she also received awards in MIGS, medical student teaching, and clinical research.
In her free time, Dr. Gupta enjoys spending time outdoors, swimming, exercising, trying new recipes, and traveling.
